Japanese Feudalism: Feudalism in Japan had the same basic idea as in Europe. There were the poor farmers who worked their fields and gave money the the land owners who were the lords and samurai. From there, the lords/samurai gave their money and service to the Daimyo, who were military governors. The Daimyo served the shoguns who were like the kings.-MF
Code of Bushido and Samurai: All samurai followed a code of morals and ethics. This code was called Bushido. This code made samurai respect each other and it created a set of rules for the samurai. Samurai were often Buddhist and has a feminent side to them. They took part in gardening and writing poetry. However, on the battle front, they were fierce warriors that wore colorful armor and often beheaded their enemies. They were also masters of the sword.- KJA

Nature- Natural resources were short in Japan. The natural resources consisted of coal, oil, and iron. The Japanese believed that divine spirits lived in the nature. Earthquakes, tidal waves, and typhoons, posed a threat to the civilization. JF
Location- Japan was protected and isolated from other countries becasue of its remote location. Japan doesn't gain ideas and values from other countries because of thier location so outsiders don't visit thier country. KJA
Cultural Diffusion- Japan frequently visited China to get ideas and values from the Chinese culture. Japan adopted the Chinese style of writing, religion, and a type of art. Many Japanese paintings were done in a Chinese manner. JF
